bits + pieces. {a friday ritual.}

it's spring cleaning time over here for the next couple of weeks. we are turning this place upside down and getting rid of all of this STUFF. aubrey already donated two giant truck loads to the salvation army this morning and is taking another load over this afternoon. we plan on really simplifying our space and letting go of a lot of the things that aren't necessary or serving a real purpose in our home. we have a guest house in back that has turned into a storage space that we are going to clean out and make usable again. we miss having a place for our out of town guests to stay in when they come to visit. we're purging, painting, cleaning and rearranging. i guess we've been bitten by the spring cleaning bug and we are loving it!

i also jumped on the Bringing Up Bebe band wagon. this book has been floating around the internet, as i 'm sure you have noticed, and i am pretty excited to read it in my spare time.

the last photo is something that happens all too often in our house. we do load after load of laundry, trying to catch up. we fold it, place it in each persons designated piles and then put it on the couch in the family room in hopes of getting it all put away into drawers. there it sits. the piles slowly become picked through, sat on, unfolded and the home of other random things stacked up on top. does this happen to you guys too? we are working out a new system, including a no clothes on the couch policy. all it takes is a little extra effort on all of our parts. do you guys have a system that works for you?

A TRIP TO THE ZOO.

we went to the zoo yesterday afternoon to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. it was birdies third time going to the zoo, but her first time being old enough to really enjoy it. she thought it was the best place ever! we looked at all the animals, had cotton candy, road the carousel (which she loved) and visited the petting zoo. she even made some new friends... the goats.

she did not want to leave. needless to say we will be returning to the zoo very soon to visit her new buddies.

LITTLE STYLE.

today we got outside for a bit to play and i snapped a few pictures of my sweet girls because they were looking so cute. the were happy to ham it up a little in front of the camera for me.

on milla plum: vintage denim dress, thrifted. umbrella hoodie, c/o bobo choses. stripe leggings, misha lulu. starlette crown, giant dwarf. moccasins, minnetonka. on birdie: vintage dress, le skinny on etsy. cardigan sweater, feather baby. knee socks, trumpette too. handmade moccasins, freshly picked. barrette, goody.

BIRD FOOD.

scrambled eggs with spinach and cream cheese, strawberries, blueberries and fig toast.

large shell pasta with homemade veggie sauce and roasted cauliflower.

avocado quesadilla and cutie wedges.

a snack of cheddar bunnies, dried strawberries and organic cherry yogurt.

apple chunks and cheesy scrambled eggs.

broccoli bites, blueberries and cheese.

lentil soup and sour dough toast with yeast spread.

blueberry toast and naturally sweetened honey puffs.

spinach filled tortellini soup.

breakfast taco pieces and carrot bread.

cous cous with left over lentil soup.

blueberries, rice puffs and cutie wedges.

i keep forgetting to snap photos of what birdie eats, but i managed to get enough for a new post. a few more questions that have come in that i would like to answer regarding her eating habits. Q: is birdie a vegetarian? A: no, she is not. none of us are, however the girls do not eat meat very often. i think gemma bird has had a small amount of meat only a handful of times. Q: has she broken any of those pretty dishes you serve her food on? A: when this question was asked a couple of weeks ago the answer was no, however she has since thrown one bowl and it broke. sad face. Q: how do you get her to eat so much? it seems like her meals are pretty big. does she throw it onto the floor? A: i try to give her a lot of food with a few different options. she is still in the "trying stage." she does throw some food on the floor. usually when she is full or if there is something on her plate that she doesn't like.
