i am so so excited to spill the beans on this top secret project that i have been working on for the past few months. i was asked to design a piece of jewelry for modcloth. so exciting!!! they wanted me to create a piece of jewelry that was inspired by one of my favorite vintage pieces to be sold exclusively on modcloth.com. i had such an amazing time working on this special collaboration...

i was inspired by a beautiful seventies tear drop necklace that was given to me by a friend right around the time gemma bird was born. i loved the tear drop shape and knew that i wanted to incorporate that into the modcloth design and stay true the original pieces appeal. i wanted to bring in my very favorite stone, turquoise for a native american feel and also wanted to add feathers into the mix. i think it turned out beautifully.
here is a little bit about the process including my sketch and inspiration board.

i wanted the piece to be oversized and to have an extra long chain so it could be worn low. i am so proud of how the piece turned out. it's exactly how i imagined it and now i get to share my favorite vintage piece with all of you! i have worn it almost every day since it arrived. this opportunity has been absolutely amazing!!!

make sure to go take a look at the modcloth blog for more details and you can go grab my special necklace for yourself right here! xo.
