yesterday marked the first day of autumn. personally, i couldn't be happier. as much as i love the sunshine of summer, the trips to the lake, the weekend barbecues and all of the outdoor festivals, there is something special and nostalgic about autumn. the need for layers because the nights are getting cooler, the beautiful turning leaves starting to fall to the ground, hot coffee and tea instead of iced, the shorter days and longer nights. i love fall and all it has to offer. we celebrated with donuts.
here are a few more things i am looking forward to this fall...
eating / stews and soups and all things comforting.
drinking / coffee and tea, cocoa and apple cider.
practicing / patience, kindness, selflessness and humility.
mastering / the ukulele.
learning / how to knit and the art of wood carving.
playing / in the piles of leaves and jumping in puddles with the kids outside.
finishing / unpacking. there are still boxes in my closet and garage.
reading / the second half of just kids by patti smith and then moving onto extremely loud and incredibly close by jonathan safran foer
.
walking / with my family through the neighborhood and enjoying the cooler evenings.
wearing / jeans, cozy sweaters and boots.
cooking / big family style sunday dinners for family, friends and folks.
working / on my personal side projects and business ventures while keeping my blog updated on a regular basis.
traveling / to see new places and friends and family as often as possible.
wanting / to continue saving and simplifying.
