WE WELCOME SPRING

i am starting to understand just how crazy the weather here in nashville truly is. a couple of days ago we were frolicking in the snow out back and then today we had warm sunshine on our faces and a nice cool breeze. we spent our morning outdoors to enjoy this beautiful spring weather and explore our new city. we checked out the dragon park which we all agree was pretty neat. afterwards we stopped for a quick lunch at the dog, where they make fancy hot dogs and delicious fries. it was a good morning. the park and the dog will have to become a regular thing for this family of mine. i am already craving another one of those tasty dogs. we welcome spring and all of the adventures that are just around the corner.

MONTESSORI AT HOME

as i have discussed briefly before, i started to introduce birdie to some at home, preschool lessons this year. i have researched several different approaches and i must say that she is loving the montessori method. this week we worked on "button games" (above) using a hodgepodge of buttons and a muffin tin to sort by color. she has also been doing a balance exercise called "walking the line" using simple string or yarn to stress good balance and posture (below.)

birdie is also loving doing arts and crafts with colored paper, cutting and pasting and watercolor painting, and she has been joining in on nature hikes with her big brother and sister. she starts a preschool gymnastics class next week, which we are all very excited about.
