we have been busy making preparations for the upcoming holidays and for a very special birthday celebration that is taking place tomorrow. plum is turning ten. the big one zero. double digits. TEN! it's a pretty big deal. i remember turning ten and feeling on top of the world. she is very excited and has requested a day complete with a homemade belgian waffle breakfast, oven baked bacon, sliced strawberries and a large vanilla bean frappuccino from starbucks. (it's caffeine free.) she then asked to spend the entire day with family and friends and wants to go out to a nice dinner at the restaurant of her choosing. she is thinking cheesecake factory, but won't know for sure until tomorrow.
my friend hello sandwich sent me her new book. it is full of fun activities and diy's with lots of photo instructions. so beautifully done.
...and we made monkey bread. it's so hot and ooey and gooey and delicious. the perfect gloomy day activity to make and enjoy with the kids.
footnote: my heart goes out to the children, teachers and families in connecticut today. such a terrible, horrific tragedy. i am sick and heartbroken over this and will be holding my children extra close today. this world of ours needs changing, let's start in our homes.
