merry christmas a day late! we had an amazing christmas and hopefully you all did too. my ex-husbands parents came to spend the holiday with us which was awesome! it was really nice to see them. the kids were of course super excited and gemma bird thinks that christmas is pretty neato. she had a blast opening presents and playing with her new toys. we baked cookies all day christmas eve. we now have way too many cookies in our house... molasses cookies, ginger bread men and sugar cookies. they are so good which makes them a little dangerous. i can't stop eating them. aubrey and i were up until 3am wrapping presents and of course the kids woke up, ready to go at 6:30 christmas morning. they scored big time this year... julian received a record player and a small record collection, plum received a drum set (second guessing that decision now...our poor ears) and birdie received a cardboard play house along with some other really great things.
it was fah-reezing here in texas, which i am bittersweet about. it was so cold and gloomy that it felt a little more like christmas as opposed to a sunshiny day like we experience most years, but it made it difficult to heat the downstairs floor of our 1920's house. i didn't take a ton of photos this year. we were busy enjoying the holiday and spending time with family but here are a few moments that i did manage to capture on film...

i'm always a little sad when christmas is over. it's such an amazing time of the year. i'll keep most of our decorations up until the new year, but i always feel a little bummed when it comes time to pack them all up and store them away. next stop new years!!! can't wait! xo.
