hello and a happy monday to you. the baby is napping, the kiddos are doing their school work and i decided to go ahead and do a little blogging. aubrey and i have decided that it's time to treat ourselves to a little something special. as parents, we tend to put the kids first, to always give them what they need before ever thinking about ourselves. well now it's time to focus on us a little bit. as i have shared here on the blog, we have completely redone the kids bedrooms here, here and here. fresh paint, new furniture, rearranging, new artwork, etc. but now it's our turn. our bedroom has always been the last space that we have put effort into and we decided it was time to make our room comfortable and new. it's been a few years since our room has had any real attention. this is what our room looks like right now, only there's a lot more mess. the bed is never made, there are piles of laundry on the floor waiting for the wash, a few stacks of things here and there that are waiting to find final resting places here in the house. we want a minimalistic space. we plan on bringing in bright white walls, light lacey curtains or maybe even exposed windows (we'll see), ditching our big bulky sleigh bed, a couple new pieces of furniture and storage solutions and brand new sheets... you gotta love new sheets. this is our project for this week and we couldn't be more excited about it. here is some inspiration...
our main inspiration for the room comes from the space above. i adore everything single thing about it. unfortunately we do not have wood floors upstairs, it's all light gray carpet up there but that's okay with us. a trip to china town is in order, i must find a similar floral lantern to replace the ugly ceiling fan that we have hanging right now. i have a similar bedspread that i have been saving for the space and we got a beautiful black and white poster to hang in the room along with a couple of other really neat pieces of art. i am excited to see it all come together.
here are some other pretty bedroom spaces and things that have inspired our bedroom redo...
i cannot wait to share the finished room with you all and i also can't wait to lay my head somewhere new each night. xo!
