the kids left this morning. i snapped this shot with my phone of the little birdie watching the plane leave through the airport window. it was a sad moment. saying goodbye this time around seemed a lot harder than the summers before. there were lots of tears on my part... and it didn't help that the airline employee that was walking the unaccompanied minors onto the plane rushed our goodbyes. i really wasn't ready for the summer to be here so soon. but i am feeling a little better now... my wonderful friend elise invited me and the baby over this afternoon for some much needed cheering up. she had a lovely spread of red wine and delicious cheeses and crackers ready to nibble on. she also knows that i love carrot soup and sneakily searched my blog for my favorite recipe and made it before we arrived. i love her! such a thoughtful and amazing friend.
aubrey's working tonight and so it's just me and the bird here at home. it's quiet and still... will take a little getting used to i suppose. but they will be home before i know it. i'm excited to start preparing for their return.
night friends!
footnote: the birdie took her first real step tonight. i caught it on video. i'll try to share it soon. :)
