we had a lovely thanksgiving. it was a small, quaint, beautiful get together. i love how our table turned out and the food was incredible if i do say so myself. a turkey and thirteen sides with only the help of my little plum was kind of intimidating but she was a trooper and we pulled it off. here is our thanksgiving in pictures...
my table plan sketches. i wanted a really pretty table with lots of bright fresh flowers, vintage dishes and glowing candles.
the day before thanksgiving we set the table and pulled out all of the serving dishes we would be using. milla made the cutest little labels for them complete with drawings of each dish. so cute!
we cooked while listening to records and drinking sparkling apple cider. we also got some really great mama/daughter conversations in. cooking with my kids is one of the most rewarding experiences. julian was my helper with the pies. his favorite part of thanksgiving is the pumpkin pie.
on thanksgiving day we woke up early to continue cooking, finish setting our table and preparing for our delicious feast.
we made yummy artichoke dip with sour dough bread for an appetizer while we finished cooking.
milla wore the cutest little vintage dress with milk maid braids in her hair. she looked so pretty.
when all the cooking was done we spent the evening eating, laughing, toasting and listening to beatles records. it was perfect... julian looked so handsome in his little tie.
aubrey snuck some bbq sauce to the table. naughty naughty.
baby gemma slept through most of dinner but woke up just towards the end so she didn't miss out. i love her little vintage dress.
looks like somebody was tasting the pumpkin pie a little early and right out of the center too. hah.
it was such a magical night. afterwards the boys cleaned up and did the dishes. then we watched elf (our favorite christmas movie) and cut out paper snowflakes. i am so thankful for my family and good friends. happy thanksgiving everyone. i hope your day was just lovely. xo, james.
