this past weekend was so much fun! we spent the entire time with friends and family, laughing, eating and happy. we started the weekend off by going to boheme in montrose (an area in houston close to where we live) to attend my very pretty friend michelle's art show. i was immediately blown away by her new pieces. they are incredible and i can't wait for one to be hanging on my wall.
really unique stuff. the mermaid type ones are my favorite. i got to see so many friends that i haven't seen in awhile due to my crazy work schedule and growing baby. it was a great night, although i will say that boheme has an excellent wine selection and all i wanted to do was indulge in a glass of red but instead i snacked on their incredible meat and cheese plate and sipped on smart water. boheme is not the place to go if you are pregnant, but it's fabulous, it's got such a great down to earth atmosphere and the people are lovely.
we left semi early due to the kiddos boredom, stopped and bought some girl scout cookies and went home. once the little ones were in bed we cuddled up on the couch and watched away we go. such a cute little movie.
the next day we woke up early and set off to big mamous here in the heights for breakfast, beignets and 'mock' mimosas, which are mimosas minus the champagne. although i prefer half o.j./ half pellegrino but they had no pellegrino. the outside patio was full so we sat by the open french doors which was just fine.
breakfast was simple and delicious. eggs, sausage, biscuits and hash browns.
yum yum yum!then it was time for beignets. they were perfect, warm and fluffy.
every one was pretty excited about them.
if your in houston, you should definitely check out big mamous for their weekend beignets. they're the best i've ever had. later that day we went shopping. we went to urban to buy the denim leggings i posted about last week and to babies r' us to buy a few small things for the baby bird. then we went to cactus to pick up some vinyl and there was a band & free beer event. pretty fun. later on we bbq'd in the backyard with good friends. i made the best pineapple chicken hawaiian kabobs, the boy made steak, hotdogs and corn on the cob.
once it got dark we started a bonfire, roasted marshmallows and made smores.
so delicious.
the next day... the boy made our friends and family a huge sunday breakfast. pancakes, bacon, eggs and orange juice. we all sat around my favorite yellow formica table, laughed and planned our day. we decided to go on a longboard/scooter/bike ride but when it came time to go, i stayed back in a quiet house while everyone else went. it was nice to have a couple hours of silence to rest and relax.
later we jumped in the car and went to lunch at chuy's on westheimer. sooo good.
i ate chips and queso and watched my friends drink margaritas.
we had a wonderful sunday afternoon eating, laughing, feeding the birds on the patio and sticking quarters to our foreheads.
hope you had a lovely weekend as well.
luv, james.
