hello & a happy friday to you!
saddle shoes are back in style and are being made by some big brands. problem is they tend to come with a pretty big price tag too. definitely worth it in my opinion but for those on a budget or until you have saved up enough pennies i've got a quick, fun & cheap alternative for you!
i am so excited to share this super easy do-it-yourself project with you! i started yesterday and finished it up this morning.
here are my do-it-yourself saddle shoes.
what you'll need:
a pair of white canvas tennis shoes.
{i bought mine from payless for $14.99}
a black sharpie marker.
black paint.
a paint brush or 2.
step 1: remove laces from your new sneakers.
step 2: take your sharpie marker and carefully trace around the lace holes. do this lightly as you don't want to accidently color on the metal holes and also because the sharpie bleeds quite a bit so you don't need much.
step 3: with a very small paint brush, paint around the lace holes that you darkened with sharpie. use the shoes rimmed edge as a guide and only paint in the "saddle" part of the shoe.
make sure to be careful when painting the back part of the saddle. there is no rim, only stitching, so take a little bit of time to make sure you don't paint past the stitch marks.
step 4: do the same for both sides of each shoe. easy as pie.
once done, smile...because you made the cutest shoes ever!
let them dry, re-lace them up and you're ready to rock n' roll!
i adore them!!!! and hope that you will too.
and here i am sporting my new kicks & my wardrobe remix shot for the day!
dress: vintage.
tights: can't remember.
shoes: diy saddle shoes.
bow: my daughter's.
have a lovely weekend. i'm going to relax and enjoy a couple of beers.
