thank you to all who sent well wishes to birdie. she is doing great, her fever is gone and she is happy as a clam. we did not take her to the doctor. many of you asked questions when reading my last post in regards to our views on doctors, regular check ups, vaccinations, etc. i'm not going to dive deeply into our decisions and beliefs on the subject as it's a personal choice that every parent has to make on their own. i will say that we are firm believers in alternative medicine. we also believe that medicine does have it's place and does do wonderful things when used correctly and when needed.

we spent the day taking it easy and packing away the rest of our christmas stuff. we're getting our home back to normal and getting back to schooling the big kids. there is also a fair amount of playing, laughing, you know... the good stuff.

today was my first attempt at taking down and packing up our christmas decor. i say first attempt because i didn't get very far. birdie is sick with a temperature of 102.2, a horrible cough and a nose like a faucet. it was the first time in all of her 16 months that i thought, maybe we should take her to see a doctor. gemma has never been to the doctor before. we are usually a pretty healthy bunch. in fact milla has only been to the doctor once in her nine years and julian has been four times, three of them due to ear infections when he was very small. we stocked up on natural remedies for birdie this morning. she slept most of the day in my arms or aubrey's and luckily by this evening she was running around, full of energy and playing like normal. i think that all of the rest, extra snuggles and medicine did her well. i will keep a close eye on her tonight and see how her temperature is in the morning, but i think she's on the mend.

we received word that some of my best friends are having a baby tonight. she's in transition right now. i'm so excited and happy for them! they decided to wait to be surprised with the gender of the baby but elise let me peek at the ultrasound results a couple of days ago so i know what they're having! i feel so special and cannot wait to meet the new little one.

2012.

it's january, a new year, a time for goals and resolutions. a fresh start for many of us. i know that i am one of those people. i like to set a few small, obtainable goals for myself each year. here are my goals for 2012: move out of state (yep, we're hoping to move in six months), stay on top of the laundry situation in this house, get rid of stuff and things that we don't need, eat out less, love and be kind as much as i possibly can and get back on my regular blogging schedule. there are a few more on my list but those are the ones that are on top of my head at the moment.

hope you all had a fun and safe new years eve! we stayed in with the family. poor aubrey was sick with the stomach flu so we didn't have our family dance party/game night that we usually do each year. instead the kids and made some yummy food and celebrated with an ice cream party and watching the ball drop.

i am excited to get back to regular blogging now that 2011 (what seemed like the busiest year) is behind me. i will be posting six days a week with my regular posts like "what we wore", "kiddo lunch" and "bits and pieces." i also have a few new fun posts that i plan on throwing into the mix every now and then.

things here at the bleubird camp are a little shitty at the moment. both of my girls are sick with a stomach virus. they have low grade fevers and have been throwing up all day. i'm starting to feel a little queasy myself, so i'll keep this short. luckily stomach viruses usually only last 24 hours, so we are resting up in hopes of having a relaxing, low key, family style new years count down tomorrow night.
