IN GOOD COMPANY.

my aunt and uncle came down to visit us today. they were in austin over the past few days from the sf bay area and wanted to drive down to houston to spend some time with us. it is not often that i get to see my family and so of course i was delighted and looking forward to their company. sandy is my mothers sister, tim her husband. they are two of the kindest people i have ever known. i love them both dearly and hold them close to my heart.

birdie instantly took to them as most people do. the last time we saw them was at the wedding (last november) for a brief time. i hope to see more of my dear aunt and uncle very soon. there is this warm and calming feeling of home when they are around. a rare yet always welcomed feeling. until next time.

TEARING UP HOUSES.

COUCH POTATO.

i hope you all had a wonderful independence day. we got to spend time with some dear friends and one in particular that we haven't seen in awhile. he has been missed and it was really good to see him. we ate, we drank (many a virgin cocktail for me), we swam, we lit fireworks, we stayed up way too late... the typical fourth of july festivities i suppose.

today was a day for staying in our pajamas (for the most part at least.) aubrey and i took turns napping on the couch. we watched cartoons, a bit of bad tv, a couple of movies and snacked on comfort food most of the day. we did manage to sneak out for a walk and a bite with birdie this afternoon. we tried a new french restaurant that opened up around the corner from our house. i had the lunch special: tomato bisque, a small salad of greens, a ham and cheese crepe and a chocolate ganache crepe for desset. it was pretty good and only eleven bucks. we will be back again.

tomorrow it's back to real life for us. it was fun acting like kids and playing hookie from most of our responsibilities for a day, but there is laundry waiting to be done and two bathrooms in line to be cleaned. we have some special house guests arriving saturday afternoon. my aunt and uncle are coming in from california for a short visit and i am thrilled. i don't see my family often so this is quite a treat. so off to bed i go, i've got a busy day ahead.

MATERNITY STYLE / 26 WEEKS.

i am twenty six weeks already. on friday i will officially be in the home stretch. crazy. there have been nesting spurts here and there. there's so much to do in preparation for baby boy that i am hoping the nesting bug bites hard very soon. i need to get his crib so that i can really get started on his corner (he will be sharing our room until we move into a new house) but this week is for sewing. i plan on making him some sheets out of vintage fabric along with a few other things. fun stuff.

birdie joined me again this week in my maternity style photos. it's just more fun with her. oh and if you are curious as to whats in the paper bag...? it's monkey bread and it's delicious.
