the little bird is finally here! i am so in love with little miss gemma bird and am excited to finally wrap our maternity series with her in my arms. the perfect ending to an amazing 9 months. we are excited to document her growth here on the blog.

my 37th week was a great one. full of excitement and anxiety to welcome this little bird into the world. i put most of the finishing touches on her little nursery and also we cleaned the house from top to bottom in preparation of the kiddos return the following week. we went back to school shopping for them and stocked the pantry and fridge with lots of goodness from the grocery store and costco. it was a really fun and productive week. some very dear friends of mine surprised me with a baby shower. i didn't want because i planned on having a welcome the bird party instead after she arrived since my summer was so busy but they didn't listen. sneaky little devils. we also got in some important hangout time with some of our closest friends. dinners and movies and lots of other things that we won't be able to do for awhile after baby arrives. it was really a great week.

week 38 was a bit rough as those of you who have been keeping up with the blog & twitter may know. i've been having start and stop labor for days and it is very frustrating and exhausting and at times a little disheartening. good news is my kiddos came home from summer break with their dad. it feels so good having them home. still waiting on baby bird. hopefully she will decide to meet us soon. i am HUGE and so uncomfortable. "come on little bird...you can do it!"

another week has gone by and it's been an exciting one! we're all prepared here at home. we got a new car, that i love that has plenty of room for all three of my little kiddos. i am so anxious and excited to meet this little girl, you have no idea. i am still exhausted most days and haven't been getting much sleep, but i have been napping whenever i can and i think it's helping a bit. we are squeezing in as much time with our friends before the little one's arrival which is a lot of fun and are pretty much just sitting back and waiting for her to enter our lives.

i have been so busy preparing for this little bird and boy am i tired. i haven't been sleeping either so i'm kind of a walking "time bomb" and a bit of a crab apple. so you have been warned... don't piss me off. hah! i'm only kidding...(kind of.) seriously though, i need to look into a pregnancy okay'd sleep aid. i've been getting 3-4 hours every single night and have been taking very few naps during the day. it's really not much fun and really does make this mama irritable. i've also lost my super mega preggo appetite, which i guess is good since my midwife kindly asked me to "not gain any more weight." i'm very tall and hide the weight well but i have gained 50 pounds. whoa nelly!
anyway... i am almost done setting up this little birds nursery. i'm almost done ordering all of the last minute things we need, which is exciting because it feels like christmas in july everyday with all the packages arriving on my doorstep.
