she's two years old. officially a toddler. no longer a baby, although she will always be my baby.
today was a day most like any other, nothing special or out of the ordinary. we did however shower her with "happy birthdays" and plum stitched her a little bunny head out of felt and thread and gave it to her this morning. i also made homemade pumpkin donuts for breakfast. they were delicious and reminded me of the fall and how it is just around the corner.
it was a laid back day, just what we needed after such an eventful weekend. birdie had a case of the grumps a couple of times, especially when it was time to rest and take her afternoon nap. she put up quite a fight. if she would have tried any harder i think i would have caved and let her skip nap time. i can be a softy, especially on birthdays. after the fuss and muss and "don wanna go seep" pleas, i went into her room and sang and rocked her into slumber. i haven't done that in a very long time. it was the best. she fell asleep to the sound of my hums and i slowly laid her down in her crib and tip toed away.
she woke up in better spirits and the rest of the day on into the night was spent playing with her new doll, reading her new books, wearing her fancy new boots that granny brought her and cuddling with mama a bit more than usual. no complaints here.
it was a lovely day. the only thing missing was papa, but we did video chat once in the morning and once before bed. ahh, the perks of technology.
happiest birthday gemma birdie. we all love you so much.
