to get the kids rolling and ready for learning each morning, i have them take out their creative writing journals and write about a given topic. because today is december first, i thought it would be fun to have them write about the month of december and all that they are looking forward to. i couldn't help but smile extra big when i read julian's entry and he said it would be okay if i shared it with you...
December 12/1/11 by Julian
In December we are joyful and kind. We give and receive. We give hugs, receive kisses and create love, peace and joy. I'm looking forward to getting a Christmas tree. We love hanging ornaments and Mommy is so so crazy about her weird, vintage tree topper. She makes a HUGE worry about it breaking or being chipped. I'm looking forward to the candles being lit, that wonderful Christmas tree smell and the smell of newly baked Christmas cookies. I think we will bake all day one day. We will bake chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, snickerdoodles and maybe peanut butter cookies (my favorite).
I really hope that it snows this year. I have always wanted to make a snowman. I am extremely excited about Christmas! The real meaning about Christmas is not the presents, but about giving joy to others! That's the REAL meaning of Christmas. I love December. All the things I do in December equals up to 100 (maybe).
I wish you and everyone (who's been nice this year) a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
