twenty. weeks. old.

my baby can read. just kidding, but she loves to look at books. this one just happens to be her favorite. it's a soft bath book. simple bright colored pictures that just love to be chewed on. she seriously loves it!

seems to me like my little bird has either stopped teething (with no new tooth poking through) or she has just learned to deal with the pain. she's still drooling up a storm but is back to her happy, not-so-crabby self. she's a pro at sitting up now. she still falls over at times, especially when she gets really excited but those little back muscles are getting strong. she just loves playing in her crib. she played in there for an hour the other day. so awesome. i can usually put her in there with a few toys and her little book and take a quick shower. i just love this little birdie so much!

my baby is so LOUD. she has learned how to shriek like a baby pterodactyl and since discovering this new found talent, she does it non-stop. i will try to get a *very short* video of it for you guys. it's pretty funny.

we are finally starting to be on a pretty regular schedule. the birdie has been going down for bed time around 9-9:30pm and sleeping through the night with only a few 'in bed/roll over nursing sessions' and is waking around 8am with about 3 good naps per day. it's making life a lot easier and more pleasant. i am a little stumped on bath time though. we recently switched her from the puj tub, to something a bit more her size... a little bath tub set up. she has always loved her bath time but ever since we got this new tub, she loathes it and screams and cries the whole time. it's so sad. any ideas what this is all about? i'm thinking of getting a bath seat instead of a tub. maybe she would like that better or maybe just a better tub. any thoughts or suggestions on the subject?

other than that we've got no complaints. we love this tiny lady. she's a doll and gets lovelier every day.

(for those who have asked & commented - we were not driving in this photo of gemma. she fell asleep in her sling and we carefully set her in her seat so not to wake her. i buckled her in and snapped the cute photo before tightening her up and taking off just incase she were to wake up as she so often does. and yes, she is rear facing.)

MAMA STYLE.

being a mama and keeping my personal style can be a challenge at times. i will admit that when i had julian and milla plum back in my early twenties i gave into the mom sweats and t-shirt look. i wore my hair in a bun almost everyday and rarely wore make up. this time around i was terrified that i would become that "typical mom" again. i made a pact with myself that through pregnancy and post pardom, i would not allow myself to lose myself again. i think i've done a pretty decent job at it. i get dressed most days. i put make up on most days. i do my hair most days. i want to look good for my kiddos and myself. i allow myself two pajama days a week. the other five i get dressed and try to make plans with my mister, kiddos or friends so i don't slack off in the mom style department. it's easy to do when your a mama bird like me.

i've been planning this little style project for awhile now and am hoping that all you mamas out there will join me in addressing some of the mom style issues that so many of us have dealt with and help break the "mom style" stereotype . i have some really fun features and challenges up my sleeve that i hope you will participate in.

today's style tip: a few staples that i think every mom can wear regardless of weight or height: a cardigan sweater, a comfortable maxi dress and cute flats. you can't go wrong with these three things in your closet.

I'M GILTY...

a few recent purchases from gilt groupe. the little star print jumper is for milla plum. i bought both her and i matching red hunter boots and got baby gemma the light purple pair. the cardigan is in baby bird size and i got her a little skirt to go with it. the skirt is not shown but is the same print as the star jumper above. there have been some really great sales as of late. i just wish they had a better boys selection. poor juj always gets the short end of the stick when it comes to that site. did you hear me gilt groupe? more big boy sizes pretty please!!!
