just a little hello and a heads up on what's happening here at the bleubird house... last night around 9pm i started having contractions. they continued throughout the night into the morning getting stronger and stronger until they reached around 5 1/2 minutes apart. i had about 30 minutes of sleep when my super hero midwife arrived at 5:30 am. she checked me and although i was making progress, i was moving along slowly. she determined that i was in the very early stages of labor and that i needed to rest up big time to prepare my body for when active labor starts. i took a warm bath, ate a little something and laid down to try and get some rest. my contractions were painful and regular making it virtually impossible to sleep. i used some heavy breathing techniques to get through them and to relax my body. it eventually worked and i fell asleep around 9 am. i woke up feeling a bit more rested at 11:30 and my contractions had slowed down considerably. i felt discouraged, exhausted and emotional.
my midwife assured me that this is normal activity and to rest up and nap as much as possible. labor could resume at anytime and could potentially go very fast. so i did just that. i have had start and stop contractions all day. some a little whimpy, some strong. i did some walking this evening but am now hoping that the everything stays a little slow in there until tomorrow evening because julian and milla are coming home.
so here i am, stretched out on the couch, watching friends dvds, relaxing and waiting for all three of my little kiddos to come home to me. it might be a little quiet here on the blog for another day or so until we know more. but i will keep you posted as much as i can. you can also follow me on twitter for live updates and progress. aaand rest assured that if this little bird does come soon i have some really great guest bloggers lined up to help me out here with some awesome posts until i can return to blogging.
we will be picking a winner for the warm sugar giveaway this week so you may continue to enter until the comments are closed and the winner is announced. thank you to everyone for all of the sweet words and the support. we are so excited for this little bird to arrive into our lives!
xo, james.
