i am so excited to show you my latest little project. it's perfect for the holidays or just a cute do-it-yourself home decoration. i made a pom pom wreath that can hang on your wall or door and it has a cute vintage look and feel.
it's super fun and easy to do. first pick up a straw wreath & some yarn in the colors of your choice/color pallet from your local craft store. i suggest not using more then 5 colors of yarn. you don't want the wreath to be too overwhelming.
i decided to make a pretty fall colored wreath that will look great for thanksgiving. now it's time to make pom pom's. lot's & lots of pom poms. tutorial here. my wreath ended up taking 41 poms in all because i wanted it to be very full and plush looking. you may use less if desired. it also depends on the size of wreath you decide to create.
once you've made your pom poms you need to prepare your wreath. cut very long strips of fabric or felt in 3 inch strips and tightly wrap your wreath, securing with a hot glue gun. (thanks for the tip rachel.)now that your wreath is wrapped it's time for the fun part. take a pom and simply tie it tightly onto your wreath. continue to do so in rows, alternating colors as you go. i took lot's of pictures to show you how. :)
until you start to build your pom pom wreath. it's so exciting once you start to see what it will look like.
continue doing so...
until your wreath is full......
then trim the ties in back and tada...
now you can hang it as is or add some cute details of your choice. i chose a little fawn. secure with hot glue gun, let dry and hang on your wall or door.
yay! i hope you have fun with this project. it took me a full day to complete, but you can make poms while watching movies or catching up on tivo. :) if you decide to make a wreath, i'd love to see a photo of the finished project.
have a lovely tuesday!
xoxo.
