hello to you on this monday night!
today was AWESOME! i got sooo much done & had so much fun. first of all, i had my morning dose of caffeine and then headed to the craft store to buy a few things that i needed. then i had a delicious bagel sandwich breakfast with sir mccoy, (i never eat breakfast so i'm proud of myself.) then i came home and worked on my new obsession...my gnome project... can't wait to show you all! my friend brandi bear came over and we went thrifting. here's what i found: 2 awesome chrome canisters for coffee and flour. (i have sooo many of these but i can't help but buy them when i see them.) a cute little brown & tan thermos. 2 pyrex mini dishes, (no tops...luckily i have a ton of extras, yay!) a pretty crotched lace tablecloth & little white tatting trim pillow. an uh-mazing enamel bread box with red trim. (for under 2 bucks!) a bunch of "working" white string christmas lights and an amazing chandelier for $12. some guy in the parking lot offered me $100 for it but i said "no way jose." :)
when i got home i spray painted this little guy...
& later on we painted these... mines still unfinished. it will be very detailed when it's complete. we're going to hang them on the tree in the backyard.
okay so many of you asked for my mushroom taco recipe, so here goes. let me preface by saying that they are THE BEST, most amazing, sooo super scrumptious taco's! i really think you'll like them.
here's the recipe:
1 big package sliced fresh mushrooms or 2 small packages
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup red wine
salt & pepper to taste
one nice squeeze of fresh lemon juice (half a lemon)
one small onion
red bell pepper
avacado
cheese, sour cream & what ever other taco toppings you desire
okay, here goes... melt butter in pan and add sliced mushrooms. let sautee a few minutes until sizzling and nice and golden. then add wine simmer for a good 5-6 minutes until most of the wine has absorbed into the mushrooms. add squeeze of lemon, let simmer another minute or so, add salt & pepper to taste and remove.
in another pan (at the same time) sautee onions and red bell pepper with a bit of butter until caramelized then sliced up some ripe avacado and set aside. now it's time to build your tacos. (i use flour tortilla's because i think they would go best with this meal.) spoon a big portion of mushrooms onto each tortilla, top with onions & bell peppers, sprinkle cheese of your choice ( i had cheddar on one and bleu cheese crumbles on the other...don't judge it til you try it) top with avacado and sour cream and take a big ol' bite! then think to yourself..."oh my, these taco's are sooo good...james is awesome...i love her!" :) and here's my newly "pinked" owl. kinda hard to see in the photo but she's adorable. she loves her new makeover and a few of her friends are jealous.
wow this post was longer that i'd expected it to be. haha. have a lovely night!
xoxo. miss j.

I saw a family of 3 owls exactly like that at the thrift store last time I visited. That is a great idea! I hope they are still there tomorrow!

Those tacos looks UH-MAZING!!!! I can't wait to try that out (& I definitely will...even tho I was JUST thinking that I never use my stove except to bake clay. ha!) Your day looks so lovely!!!
P.S. I've started making pompoms and can't stop, despite my husband saying my colors looked pukey. I told him to shut his hole and I'm redoing the kitchen in those colors now! Ha! (orange, turquoise & gray)

The owl looks so cute. I may have to try that with a little squirrel that lives in my living room (a fake one..not real!)
